Car Dealers Fed Up With Vandalism

Several car dealerships in Bonneville County recently suffered thousands of dollars in damage when a number of vehicles were vandalized with what officials are calling a drive-by shooting with a BB gun, and the dealerships are saying enough is enough.

A couple of cars here at East Side Auto Sales had their windows completely broken with a BB pellet gun. More than half a dozen cars at the four car dealerships on the block were targets for the shooters. Owners say the total cost of damage is somewhere between $4,000 to $5,000.

At East Side Auto Sales, three vehicles were hit. One has already been repaired and the other two vehicles were expected to be in the repair shop Friday night.

General Manager Blaine Cook said even though the weapon was a BB gun, it did a lot of damage.

“It’s a serious deal,? Cook said. ?It costs us money, it costs the owners money. It’s annoying. As dealers, we’ll pull together, and we’d like to see whoever this was be held accountable for it.”

Cook said a $2,500 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to those responsible. (The reward was previously $1,500.) If found, the suspects could face felony charges.

Other dealerships in the area also sustaining damage include Automatic Car Credit, Timberline and Yellowstone Truck.
