Local Schools Celebrate Reading

March 2 is Read Across America Day for kids all over the country.

Woodland Hills Elementary went all out to celebrate.

Students flocked to the library, dressed in their pajamas for a day of reading.

After each book, the kids would go back to their classroom to take a test on the book. Every perfect score earned them a shot at some prizes.

Some kids read at least 10 books.

“We have a great school, we have great kids, we have the teachers are supportive,” said school librarian Shelli McBride. “I come up with some crazy ideas and they support me all the way. I’m just proud of the kids because they’re the ones doing all the work.”

Read Across America Day always falls on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
