Daniel Lammers

A love of learning is common among the United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student Award winners. Whether it’s drama or English, this week’s winner, Pocatello High School senior, Danile Lammmers, has a passion for education.

Playing a student and cheerleader, Daniel may not have had a major role in Pocatello High School’s recent production of Grease, but he still played a major part in the show. He was an assistant director.

“My entire life is on that stage,” Daniel says. “I really like the people in the plays. Acting is good and I really like the people telling you, good job at the end of the show, that’s really awesome, but it’s really my fellow actors and the kids behind the scenes that really make the difference for me.”

In the past four years Daniel has been in eight plays. He has won several awards for his acting. While all those rehearsals take time, Daniel doesn’t slack off in his academic performance.

“I love English, it’s amazing – like reading stories and even reading and writing essays and stuff, I take that stuff very seriously,” Daniel says.

Daniel feels so strongly about the importance of education that he plans to go to ISU to become qualified to be a high school teacher.

“I’d like to teach English and teach drama because I’ve learned a lot from the teachers that have taught me – especially Kaleen – she’s awesome,” Daniel says.
