9-Year-Old Girl Dies In Soda Springs Crash

A 9-year-old girl from Wayan is dead in an accident that apparently involved a drunk driver, according to authorities.

Idaho State Police said Dwight Lloyd, 45, also of Wayan, was driving north on Highway 34 near Soda Springs Friday night when another car collided with his. Richard Hunsaker, 46, of Soda Springs, was driving the second car, ISP said.

Lloyd was taken by ambulance to Caribou Memorial Hospital for injuries that were not life threatening. The 9-year-old girl, whom police did not identify, died at the scene. Police said they aren?t sure yet if either person was wearing a seat belt.

Hunsaker was not seriously injured in the crash, ISP said.
