Pebble Creek Ends Season

No shirts. No pants. No problems.

“Today is just one last chance for people to go up and make some turns on the slopes,” said Pebble Creek general manager Mary Richman.

Due to the winter’s unreasonably warm weather, this year wasn’t as historic as last. However, Pebble Creek made it to the end of March again. The resort plans on improving the mountain with a new ski patrol building and run enhancement to the south side in the off season.

“The kind of projects that don’t cost a lot of money — after a year like this, we need to be conservative in our plans,” said Richman.

Even though there are more puddles and brown spots popping up all over the mountain, the consensus seems to be if there’s snow, you might as well ski it.

“We could have had it better this year, but I’ll ski to the bitter end,” said season pass holder Nordy.

Is it a bitter sweet end?

“No. I’ve had mine. It’s good and I’m looking forward to next year,” said season pass holder Jason Dudley.

“Pebble Creek is our mountain. We love this mountain. It’s open so the conditions are excellent. We’re much more fortunate than a lot of people across America right now, so we’re proud of that,” said season pass holder Kathy Shultz.

A fact that’s not lost on Richman and her staff as their best friends visit them at work, one last time.

“Just being here enjoying each other, hanging out on the deck with friends. It’s a great way to end the season,” said Richman.

The Rocky Mountain Hill Climb Association has officially canceled their annual competition that was scheduled for next weekend at Pebble Creek. The next event to be held at the resort will be the Wild Flower concert June 23.
