East Idaho prepares for aquarium

Ammon may have a new aquarium soon, thanks to one Brigham Young University-Idaho student.

East Idaho Aquarium President Arrron Faries plans to place the new aquarium in the old Game World building. Not all the details have been worked out, but everyone seems to be interested.

The city of Ammon didn’t want to comment just yet, but it seems the project is in the works. The aquarium is expected to host freshwater and saltwater fish, with more than 20 tanks.

Faries said this is an idea that will make a huge splash within the community.

“It was just me and a friend; we were cleaning tanks and we thought this would be good. We started researching it, and we looked at the zoo, Bear World and how many people came to those. We thought this was an excellent idea; that we could do this and it could be successful,” he said.

The nonprofit is working to get an architect to help with planning. To donate, go to http://awftaz.wix.com/eastidahoaquarium or on Kickstarter at http:// kck.st/1jHAjv9.
