Bonneville Online Schools seek to increase enrollment

Bonneville Online Schools is hoping to increase their enrollment The important thing about them is options. Students are given an individualized curriculum; ensuring that the student’s needs are met first.

Shelley Andrus, lead teacher K-8, said, “One of the big things people said to me was ‘I didn’t even know that you exist’.”

Bonneville Online is accepting students for the 2015-2016 school year.
It’s a public education from the comfort of your own home.

“So yes the kids are schooling at home, they’re home schoolers, but they’re public school students,” said Andrus.

Bonneville Online is hoping to increase their enrollment using K-12 and Fuel-Ed curricula combined with certified teachers.

“Alot of people don’t want to leave district 93 either,” Andrus said. “They don’t want to leave the support and resources that come with being part of a large district. They don’t want to leave a local community either. So we are the best of both worlds. We’ve got public school at home and the support with certified teachers.”

These teachers also provide support for parents as they transition to home school.

“How do they manage the difficulties of switching between the role of mom and teacher and then back again?” said Andrus.

Bonneville Online said the relationship they have with the students and their families sets them apart.

Lindsey Bell, a student, said, “Ty Salsbury the principal here, he’s like my best bud. He’s awesome. I’ve never had like a relationship with a principal before.”

It’s providing options for every level of student.

“We see students that are successful in this in the whole spectrum of learning,” Andrus said.

Bonneville Online also provides a social aspect to their program. They bring all of their students together every Thursday to meet as well as field trips once a month.
