Reminders for parents with kids going back to school
With the school year about to start there’s a lot parents need to do to make sure their kids are ready to hit the books.
One people might not think to do is taking students in for an eye exam.
“The children’s eyes don’t align properly together, so they have a hard time focusing on the word, the word can be double can move on the page can be really distracting to the child,” said optometrist Dr. Jared Ivie.
That can make school rough.
“It can be embarrassing if you do have a hard time reading,” he said. “The teacher calls on you and you know the words are double and you’re afraid to read. You don’t want to mess something up.”
