Back to school shopping

The Gate City community is getting ready for its annual back-to-school giveaway.

From pencils to binders, every penny counts.

However, back to school can be a stressful time for parents, an added expense to the monthly budget can set some back.

Parents across the U.S., with a child in kindergarten through 12th grade, will spend an estimated $25 billion on back-to-school shopping alone.

The Chubbuck community wants to help make sure that each child has what they need before their first day of school.

“The whole idea is to have an all day experience, a very fair like atmosphere, the backpack portion is a portion of the day, where they receive their supplies, there also going to get some basic services- dental checks, vision checks,” said John Robinson, co-director.

About 1,500 to 1,600 kids are expected to attend Saturday’s event.
