High-priced bikes stolen from Pocatello home

Police are searching for two high-priced bikes that disappeared this weekend from a home on the 4000 block of Mountain Loop Road in Pocatello’s Johnny Creek neighborhood.

One bike, a specialized S-Works Stump Jumper hard tail retails online for $5,750, while another, Santa Cruz Tall Boy retails for $3,399.

Police said the bikes were stolen either Saturday evening or early Sunday morning. They said the owner came home to from an out-of-town trip to find the garage door open and the bikes missing.

If you have any information regarding these thefts, you can call the Pocatello Police Department at 208-234-6100.

For a one-time, $1 fee, the Pocatello Fire Department will register your bicycle and engrave the various parts with a unique serial number. They say this makes bikes easier to recover in the event of a theft.

“If a bike is not marked and licensed, it makes it extremely difficult to determine who the owner was or where the parts belong,” said Capt. Glen Powell with the fire department.

If you’d like to have your bike registered, you can stop by any of the city’s four fire stations during regular business hours.
