Firefighters seek public cooperation

The Bobcat fire, south of North Fork, Idaho has grown to approximately 350 acres.

During a town-hall meeting in Salmon Tuesday night, Salmon-Challis National Forest officials asked the public to use caution when traveling in the area. To avoid congestion, the forest asked people to keep moving when traveling along the road and not stop along the highway. The fire is visible from Highway 93.

There may also be fire support vehicles in the area that will need safe and efficient access.

A Type II management team has been assigned to the forest. Fire crews and helicopter bucket drops have proven successful, so far. However, weather forecasts are putting increased pressure on critical areas within the fire perimeter.

Assessment of structures and point protection plans will continue to be a priority.
