Two men arrested after allegedly attacking police officers

Two Idaho Falls men were arrested for battery after allegedly attacking Blackfoot Police officers.

On Sunday, August 23, 2015, Blackfoot Police officers responded to a battery report at an event center in Blackfoot.

While investigating, the officers were attacked by a portion of the crowd. The officers uniforms were damaged and equipment was forcibly removed from their duty belts. Some of the officers also received minor injuries.

One suspect was tased twice and taken to Bingham Memorial Hospital. Two male suspects were taken into custody. Ricky Luis Mendoza, 22 of Idaho Falls was charged with misdemeanor battery and resisting and obstructing. Daniel Hernandez Mendoza, 43 of Idaho Falls, was charged with felony battery on an officer and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing.

The Blackfoot Police Department is continuing their investigation.
