Pocatello chip sealing projects scheduled to begin August 28

Starting next week, crews from the City of Pocatello Street Operations Department will begin chip sealing roads around Pocatello.

Chip sealing is where crews put down a thick asphalt emulsion and then apply rocks, called chips, to the emulsion. It is followed with a coat of emulsion to hold the chips in place. Later, crews return to the roads, sweep up the excess chips, and apply a final emulsion coat.

There will be no parking allowed on the street from 6:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. while crews are working, and city officials ask you anticipate traffic congestion and delays while crews are working.

In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen problems, the schedule may be revised and sealing may occur the following day.
