UPDATE: Pocatello field fire contained, evacuations lifted

Update 9:33 p.m.: The fire burning in southeast Pocatello Wednesday night has been contained and evacuations have been lifted.

Crews do remain on scene mopping up hot spots. The fire is said to be a little larger than an acre.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials say it is not lightning caused.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office said homes near Stockman and Shores roads on the southeast side of Pocatello are being evacuated because of a field fire.

Dispatchers said crews are currently responding to the fire. It is unclear how many homes have been evacuated.

It is unclear how large the fire is. A cause of the fire remains under investigation.
