Non-perishable food donations needed to sent to Houston

Idaho Falls-based Melaleuca is accepting a very specific list of non-perishable food donations to assist flood/hurricane victims in Houston.

Company officials said a semi-trailer truck is accepting donations from its workers and the general public all day Thursday at the company distribution center at 477 West 65 South. The truck will leave Idaho Falls to make the 1,500 mile trip to Houston at 7:30 Thursday night.

The company received so many donations they are now sending a second truck.

The list of desired items includes:

canned fruit granola bars snack bars crackers chips paper plates paper towels plastic cups juice boxes juice bottles

In order to be accepted at the large shelters, the items cannot have an expiration date before December 1, 2017.

Melaleuca sent a truckload of requested items to Texas earlier this week.
