Kailua, HI (KITV ) — Two friends trying to catch a video of the sunrise in Kailua, wound up capturing something much more meaningful.
Last Saturday, Megan Kozak and her friend Sarah Woolley, took an early morning trip to Lanikai Beach.
They set up a GoPro camera to take a time-lapse video of the sunrise, kept it rolling, then hopped in the water for a swim.
That’s when Kozak says she noticed a man drop to his knee, and propose to a woman.
“They had a passerby take a picture of them. It was really cute,” Kozak explained. “Then they hugged and kissed a little bit. It was just kind of nice to see that, you know, life goes on amongst everything going on in the world right now.”
Unknowingly, the special moment was caught on the GoPro.
“She checked her GoPro a couple days later and saw that she got these beautiful shots of the couple perfectly between the two islands, and the sun just perfectly in the sky. I was like, ‘We have to find them’.
With the help of social media, Kozak and Woolley were eventually able to track down the couple nearly a week later.
They say the newly engaged pair was in shock, and appreciative of the sweet gesture.
An unexpected moment that’ll last a lifetime.
