Crews box in Colorado wildfire as investigators seek cause

Associated Press

LOUISVILLE, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado wildfire that destroyed hundreds of homes has been boxed in by firefighters to prevent it from spreading. Firefighters on patrol tamped down embers in destroyed homes and bone-dry grassland that were rekindled by high winds on Tuesday. Last week’s blaze destroyed nearly 1,000 homes and other structures and left two people missing in suburban areas located between Boulder and Denver. Investigators have narrowed their search for the fire’s cause to a sparsely populated neighborhood near Boulder. Authorities say it’s the same area where video was captured of a burning shed the day before the fire started. With emergency aid ramping up, more evacuees were allowed access to their homes on Tuesday.
