The Nation’s Weather for Tuesday, December 31, 2019

_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

Cold air will rotate into the Northeast for the final day of

the year tomorrow. Widespread snow showers and heavier

squalls are likely throughout the Great Lakes region and

into the central Appalachians. Steady snow and a wintry mix

will pummel much of Maine. Cooler, less humid conditions

will sweep through the southern Atlantic Seaboard. High

pressure will promote rain-free and sunny conditions across

the South. Dry weather is forecast to return to the northern

Plains behind the impressive snowstorm, with temperatures

rebounding slightly. A new storm will target the Northwest

states with areas of rain and high-country snow. Much of the

rest of the West can expect a dry but chilly day.
