Police officers provide special gift for family who had car, presents stolen

OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) — The Overland Park Police Department and Overland Park Police Officers Foundation helped a family in need on Christmas Eve.
On Dec. 17, a thief stole a mother’s vehicle while she was preparing to take her children to school.
Inside the vehicle’s trunk were the presents for the family’s children, according to a Facebook post from the police department.
One week later, officers from the department presented keys and a title for a vehicle for the family.
The vehicle was purchased by the Overland Park Police Officers Foundation and a mechanic examined the vehicle to make sure it was safe.

On 12/17, Overland Park Police Officers responded to an auto theft that had just occurred. The victim, Ms. Rosado, was preparing to take her children to school when the vehicle was stolen. In the trunk of the car was all of her children’s Christmas presents.
The suspects who stole the car were later caught, but they had wrecked and totaled Ms. Rosado’s vehicle. This obviously created a hardship for the family.Tonight, Officers from OPPD and members of the OP Police Officers Foundation, performed a “Christmas Miracle” for Ms. Rosado and her family.
On Christmas Eve, Ms. Rosado was presented with the keys and title to reliable transportation for her family. The vehicle was bought and paid for by the Overland Park Police Officers Foundation. A local mechanic also volunteered his time and talent to make sure the car was running in top condition.
On top of that, Target Corporation graciously donated all of the presents that were stolen, back to Ms. Rosado and her family, along with a Christmas meal.
