Car washers fund-raise for ‘no-kill’ animal shelter

A group of Idaho Falls folks was out in force on Sunday, raising money for a new ‘no-kill’ animal shelter.

Members of the Helping Animals Rescue Team or HART were washing cars in the Apple Athletic Club parking lot to raise money for the Snake River Animal Shelter’s 5th annual Mutt Strutt.

Pets and their owners turned out for the wash. One driver even gave washers a $100 bill.

The ultimate goal is to raise enough cash for an actual building for the shelter.

Organizers of Sunday’s car wash said many people in the area might not know there isn’t an area shelter with a ‘no-kill’ policy in the upper valley, and that’s what they aim to create with the money raised by fundraisers like the car wash.

“We’re basically just wanting that Snake River Animal Shelter built as quickly as possible,” said Sherry Randolph.

The shelter hosts its annual Mutt Strut fundraising walk on Saturday, August 25 at Freeman Park shelter number 3.

It starts at 8 a.m.
