Man jailed after standoff with Idaho Falls police

An Idaho Falls man was arrested after barricading himself into an Idaho Falls home late Friday night, police said.

Wade Anderson, 34, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.

Sgt. Bill Squires with the Idaho Falls Police Department said officers responded to a call for a suicidal man at 1698 Canal St.

Squires said Anderson was alone in the home, armed with a rifle and refused to come outside.

After about an hour of negotiating over the phone with officers, Squires said that Anderson refused to comply, so a SWAT team was called in.

Anderson did eventually come outside, but Squires said the man was not cooperating with officers. Anderson was then shot with a bean bag gun and tased before being taken into custody.

Anderson is still being held in the Bonneville County Jail. He will have to undergo a psychological evaluation, police said.
