Changes to LDS Missions announced at conference
The president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made a major announcement during the opening session of the 182nd semi-annual general conference on Saturday.
Men who are 18 years old will now be eligible to serve a mission for the church, President Thomas Monson said. The age limit was previously 19. Women will now be able to serve starting at age 19 instead of 21, Monson said.
As cameras showed the crowd in the conference center, they appeared visibly shocked and excited.
Monson also announced two new temples to be built; one in Tuscon, Arizona and one in Peru.
