Anchor keeps composure when spider drops into view on live TV
You try keeping your composure when a spider drops into your view on live TV, trying to get its “15 minutes of fame.” I didn’t know whether to laugh, keep going or acknowledge it.
Viewers called our newsroom the following day, concerned that the spider was actually crawling on my lapel. It does appear like it is, but in reality, the spider was between me and the camera, about 6 feet out. I actually saw in dropping down during the previous story and thought to myself, “This is not going to be good. Watch it stop right in my view.” Sure enough, it did.
