Plane lands in Fort Hall field

A small airplane that made an emergency landing in Fort Hall was threatening power lines Thursday afternoon.

No one died in the landing, which took place in a field off Rio Vista Road. Two people were hurt and were treated in an ambulance.

The plane was not secure, and high winds were moving it through the field. In a news release, the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes expressed concern about the nearby Idaho Power lines. One of the lines had already been broken in half. A parachute also appeared to be tangled in the power lines.

Roads in the intersection of Ballard and Hawthorn, and Ballard and Philbin and surrounding areas are closed down. No traffic is being allowed in the area. Authorities are encouraging motorists to stay out of the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.
