Rigby museum faces volunteer shortage

A local museum is in desperate need of volunteers.

The Farnsworth TV and Pioneer Museum in Rigby showcases some of Jefferson County’s most iconic treasures. But museum officials said interest in the museum has declined, and there’s a serious shortage of volunteers.

This week, Local News 8 found just one person manning the museum.

“It’s a volunteer shortage. There’s so many people that have to work two jobs to make a living now, and that’s why we don’t get too many young people involved here,” said Gary Spaulding, who volunteers at the museum.

The museum is named after Philo Farnsworth, the Rigby native who invented the television set.

To volunteer, call the museum at 745-8423.
