Sign hits crossing guard

A crosswalk sign hit a school crossing guard in Pocatello.

The Pocatello Police Department said just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, a car was driving through the parking lot of Edahow Elementary School at 2020 Pocatello Creek Road. The driver hit a barrier in the middle of the parking lot, then hit the curb and a crosswalk sign in the sidewalk.

A crossing guard on duty was standing near the sign. When she saw what was happening with the car, she took off running.

She managed to dodge the car, but it hit the sign, which fell over from the impact and hit her.

The crossing guard and the driver were taken to Portnuef Medical Center. Pocatello police didn’t have information on either person’s injuries or what caused the driver to hit the barrier in the first place.
