Tree smashes into Rexburg home

Heavy winds downed a tree that crashed into a Rexburg mobile home Wednesday.

Police were called to 247 N. Second West at 5:50 p.m.

The couple renting the mobile home were not home at the time and no one was hurt.

Officers said there was extensive damage to the home and it was not livable. Police offered to find the couple a hotel room for the night, but they declined the help and stayed with family in the area.

According to the National Weather Service, the Rexburg area had gusts around 40 mph Wednesday evening.
