Idaho Falls leaders looking for public input on Butte Road extension

The city of Idaho Falls is in the early stages of developing the old Butte Road Extension Project. The plan is to connect where Butte Rd turns into Pancheri drive to 33rd South (Pioneer Road)

“This is planned to part of the inner beltway around the city,” said Kent Fugal, the Idaho Falls city engineer. “It would form one leg of that beltway, so it’s an important road from a regional transportation perspective.”

Before the city plans too much, it wants the public’s input first. “At this point we’re at the very beginning of the project development process,” said Fugal. “We need to get public input on what the project should look like, what’s important to the public, and what concerns do property owners in the area have.”

City leaders have set up an online survey for people to take, that’s open through October 2. That survey can be found HERE.

Once city leaders get a good understanding on what people have to say in the survey, they’ll set up public and group meetings to discuss the finer details of the project.
