Pair arrested for fraudulent credit card use

Police in Nampa have arrested two suspects in a credit card fraud scheme with ties to Eastern Idaho.

Police say they recovered more than $27,000 in merchandise from 32-year-oldAlberto Miguel Torres-Castillo of Virginia and32-year-oldZuatney Gonzalez of Florida.

Police caught on to the thefts, when a Nampa store’s loss prevention staff noticed the pair bought more than six-thousand-dollars in merchandise from a store in the area.

The two suspects were then identified in fraudulent credit card use at the Nampa store’s affiliate in Pocatello. In the bust, officers seized thirty-nine stolen or counterfeited credit cards from the pair.

Police also recovered more than $19,000 of merchandise purchased with the fraudulent credit cards in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls and Meridian.

Police will not name the store chain the suspects scammed.

Castillo and Gonzalez are in the Canyon County Jail. Both are charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of possession of a fraudulent transaction card.
