Marijuana in Idaho: what effects legalization has in neighboring states

In 2014, recreational marijuana became legal in the United States for the first time in Colorado and Washington state. Fast forward a few years, Oregon also finds itself on the list, along with states like California and Nevada, who allow the drug for medical use.

With Idaho nestled in between these states, many questions come about the possibility of legalizing the drug here and for law enforcement their question focuses more on the trafficking of the drug. There are many arguments both for and against the legalization of the drug.

“We’re lacking the data we’re lacking the actual factual information,” said Dale Quigley, a training manager for the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. Quigley spoke to members of the local community on Thursday to discuss the impact of marijuana in Colorado.

He developed a report you can find here on the legalization of marijuana impact. For a deeper look into Colorado’s revenue from the marijuana industry- their revenue report is here.
