Idaho number 1 in the nation for job growth

This week Idaho was named number 1 in the nation for job growth. The Technical Career High School in Idaho Falls is just one of the schools in the area that are helping contribute to Idaho’s rising employment levels.

“There are many jobs in these fields in Idaho, and we’re trying to help. Whenever we’re looking at offering a new program, new courses at our school, we always meet with the Department of Labor and make sure there are jobs tied to those,” said Technical Careers High School Principal Craig Miller.

The high school has a mutually beneficial relationship with the Idaho Department of Labor, and thanks to the school’s programs, students are strongly prepared for the job market.

“If you are a high school student, it is a great time to get a job. Because the labor market is so tight, employers are willing to take on somebody that necessarily doesn’t have a track record with showing professionalism or things like that,” said Department of Labor Regional Economist Chris St. Jeor.

Jobs are so plentiful, that employers are ready to recruit right out of high school, or even before the student completes his college program.

And these career schools are having hard times keeping their students in these programs for their full terms. Nevertheless, they are very pleased at how fast their students are getting jobs.

Idaho employers are looking for students with potential they can bring into their workforce as soon as possible.
