Water mitigation plan passed

The big water mitigation plan passed Wednesday, so there will not be an impact to your water use in Idaho Falls this year.

A water call was issued by irrigation companies, which resulted in the city of Idaho Falls and other communities submitting a water mitigation plan.

This water plan had people concerned about what was to come with their water use, especially after summer arrives.

It took a while for the Idaho Department of Water Resources to figure out the best approach to combating the water shortages.

All have agreed to make up for the water shortage downstream by supplying 2,600-acre feet of water for the 2016-2017 year.
