One killed in crash on I-15 south of Downey

The Idaho State Police say one man is dead after a crash on I-15 south of the Downey exit in Bannock County.

According to ISP, John S. Park, 76, of Victor, ID, was driving a 2009 Toyota RAV southbound on I-15 near milepost 30 at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Park’s vehicle drifted off the right shoulder, came back onto the interstate, and went off the left shoulder. The vehicle continued through the median, crossed the northbound lanes, went off the west shoulder and rolled. The vehicle came to rest upright on its wheels.

Park was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Park died as a result of his injuries at the scene. Park’s passenger, Rosalie M. Park, 83, of Victor, ID, was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
