Update: Missing 85-year-old woman found dead in canal
Update 6/21/2016 11:15 am: Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a missing 85-year-old woman Patricia Dexter has been found dead.
Idaho Falls Police said her body was found by a canal worker southwest of 97th South and 5th West just after 8 a.m.
Dexter was reported missing on Sunday afternoon.
She was staying at MorningStar Senior Living’s Independent Living Community. Through the police department, the community released a statement saying, “Our hearts are broken upon hearing the news early this morning of the loss of Patricia. Our deepest condolences are extended to her family, as we continue to lift prayers for their comfort and for the comfort of the many friends wholoved her in the close-knit community.”
The Bonneville County Coroner has not declared an official cause of death for Dexter, police said.
Original Story: Idaho Falls Police and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office are continuing the search for a missing 85-year-old woman.
Patricia Dexter was last seen at MorningStar Senior Living Center near Sunnyside and Hitt Road. She has been missing since Sunday. IFPD sent out a “Code Red” reverse dispatch call to all local landline and registered cell phones in the area on Sunday.
Search and Rescue crews searched a nearby canal. Her jacket was found near the water’s edge of the canal running parallel to Hitt Rd. near Blue Hashi sushi restaurant.
IFPD says she lived in the independent community at MorningStar. She rented an apartment there and was free to go at any time.
She is 5’4″, 125 pounds, and has white hair and brown eyes.
