‘2020 Vision for Business’ talks cybersecurity

Cyber security is a major industry nowadays and worldwide, more data is being stolen and leaked daily. Cyber Security was the big topic at the “2020 Vision for Business” uncheon on Tuesday.

Dr. Ronald Fisher, the director of the Idaho National Laboratory’s Homeland Security Division, was the guest speaker.

“What bad people are looking for is what your weakest link is, what’s the easiest path into your crown jewels: your personal information,” said Dr. Fisher.

He mapped out ways small businesses can protect themselves from cyberthreats and hackers.

These attacks can happen to anyone at any time. No one can be 100 percent secure when using the internet, but you can still be proactive to protect your information and make stealing it more difficult.

“You wouldn’t leave your food unattended if you have kids at home, so why do people leave their computers or tablets or phones unattended or unlocked? A lot of simple things like that. So risk management is understanding those threats those vulnerabilities and consequences,” said Dr. Fisher.

He also advised training your kids on how to navigate the internet safely.
