Bannock County issues open fire and fireworks ban

Bannock County Commissioners have ordered a ban on all fireworks and open fires within the county.

Commissioners said vegetation conditions in the county are extremely dry and there have been several fires under similar conditions in the area in the past.

According to the commissioners resolution, dry conditions can create the potential for fire and that improper use of fireworks can create the potential for wildfire that could endanger people and property.

The order applies to unincorporated areas. The ban will be enforced by the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office.
