Car crashes into home after police chase

Two suspects are facing charges tonight after a police chase through Idaho Falls. It ended after the suspects crashed into Edith Rigg’s home.

“I was afraid someone had broken in,” Riggs said.

A car crash after the Idaho Falls Police Department tried to pull over an SUV, when the driver sped off. IFPD said the car blew a tire and ended up wedged in the wall of Rigg’s house on Woodruff Ave. and Kearney St. a little before 4 a.m.

“I heard dishes flying and breaking and I was back in the far bedroom. So I came out into the living room and all the cops cars were out here. Then we got to looking at the damage,” Riggs said.

The wall of bricks on the ground, the fence broken, and the kitchen’s drywall and floorboards all damaged.

“The police man came to my door and told me what happened. So, it was pretty wedge into the side of the house,” Riggs said.

Living on the corner of Kearny St. since 2006, Riggs always wondered when the day would come that her fence would be run into but didn’t imagine her house would be hit, leaving her kitchen in shambles.

“My microwave was half way off of the counter, and dishes were broke, and my favorite coffee cup,” Riggs said laughing.

She is keeping her spirits high even though it was a scary situation to wake up to.

“I’m still a little bit jittery. I couldn’t believe it. It was unbelievable,” Riggs said.

IFPD said both the female driver and the male passenger were taken to EIRMC, and both had warrants out for their arrest. The extent of their injuries or what they were wanted for is still unknown.
