Idaho Falls woman dies of crash injuries

An Idaho Falls woman died Thursday of injuries sustained in a crash last week. Melanie Smith, 49, was hospitalized after the crash at 9:05 a.m. June 8 at the intersection of 15th East and 49th South. According to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, a red Volkswagen Beetle was rear-ended by a Subaru station wagon while the VW was stopped at a stop sign on 15th East. Smith was a passenger in the Volkswagen, driven by a juvenile female. A female adult was driving the Subaru. The identities of the drivers have not been released. All three women were hospitalized at the time of the crash.
