Weather update for August 20th

Mid and high level clouds from a weak weather disturbance is showing up on infrared satellite imagery. Models are showing a variety of trends as the disturbance makes its way over Central and Eastern Idaho on Sunday night and Monday morning. The current forecast show some lingering cirrus clouds around the time of the eclipse on Monday. However, most areas should be able to view the eclipse just fine. One other major concern with eclipse visibility is any smoke from nearby wild fires.

No other major weather impacts for Monday.

A wave of low pressure will move through the northern Great Basin on Tuesday, causing scattered thunderstorms near the Utah border. On Wednesday the storm activity will move North.

Monday: Breezy. Sunny, with highs in the 80’s.

Tuesday: Sunny with highs in the mid to upper 80’s. Potential for thunderstorms.

Wednesday: Isolated thunderstorms. Highs in the 80’s.
