Afton, Wyo. abduction suspect apprehended, police say

The Afton Police Department in Wyoming said Friday it has apprehended a suspect wanted in connection to an attempted abduction of a young female and the assault of an adult female.

In a Facebook post, the department said the suspect was apprehended with the help of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Criminal Investigation and citizens on August 25.

The police department said a young female reported being abducted by a man on August 23 in the Afton area and was taken to the Smoot, Wyoming, area before she was able to get away. Police said on that same day the suspect went into an Afton business and “attempted to assault a female clerk in a back room.”

Authorities said “due to the nature of this investigation and to protect the victims,” no suspect information is being released.
