Family asks for donations to help children of murder victim

The family of a murder victim is asking for donations to help her two young children.

Yavette Chivon Carter, 27, was found murdered in western Oneida County last week. Also murdered were 61-Brent L. Christensen, 61, and Trent Jon Christensen, 32.

Authorities found the two girls, one 2 years and the other 2 months old, at the house. The older girl was on the steps outside, and the baby was found safe under Carter’s arm.

“As a family, we are overwhelmed with outpouring of concern and generosity following the murder of our daughter and sister, Yavette Carter, in the triple homicide that occurred last weekend,” said family spokesperson James Davis in a statement to media.

Davis said an account has been set up at Zions Bank under the name Yavette Carter Children’s Fund. People can also donate through www.yavettecarterchildrensfund.com.

Carter’s children are now in the custody of their grandparents, and the fund will be directly managed by their grandparents to make sure contributions benefit Carter’s children.

Family and friends are also working to organize a benefit dinner and raffle April 18 at Mountain View Middle School in Blackfoot.

“We offer our most heartfelt thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who have already come forward to help with the benefit dinner and raffle,” said Davis. “It is now our mission to help Yavette’s children celebrate the life of their mother, who literally died protecting them.”
