Judge approves Rexburg water project

Seventh District Judge Greg Moeller has approved a judicial confirmation allowing an $11.1 million Rexburg water project to move forward. The judge found the improvement project was “an ordinary and necessary” expense.

The ruling will allow the city to use revenues from department operations to retire loans used to pay for the project. It will not require the city to pass a voter-approved bond.

The City of Rexburg plans to raise water rates by about $6 a month to pay back a low-interest federal loan.
