Find your ancestors in worldwide event

We probably all know people who have traced their genealogy back hundreds of years. If you’d like to try to do that, you’ll have your chance this weekend for free.

A federation of genealogical societies around the world are joining forces for an event called the Global Family Reunion on Saturday, and a local family history center is joining them.

As part of the Global Family Reunion, the Idaho Falls Family Search Library on Elva will have extra volunteers on hand to show people how to use the libraries resources and eventually their own computers to find their family history.

“After they get through here, they’ll never be able to say, ‘My dog has a longer pedigree than I have,'” said Hyrum Boone, who volunteers at the library.

For more information and a schedule, go to the library’s website (scroll down).

We’ll have more on this story tonight on Local News 8 at 6.
