Body of missing boater found

The body of a man missing after a boat accident on the Snake River last month has been found.

A fisherman called the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office on Monday saying Steve Ryan Woods of Ogden, Utah, had possibly been located.

Bonneville and Jefferson county deputies responded to the Snake River between Heise and Twin Bridges, downstream from the boating accident. Woods’ waders had been snagged in the roots of a tree. A Bonneville County dive team member got him untangled.

“The family of Mr. Woods have expressed heartfelt appreciation from all of the volunteers that have assisted with this search,” the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Woods was in a boat that overturned near the Conant Valley Boat ramp when it hit a partially submerged cottonwood tree May 24. The other three people on the boat were able to make it back to shore safely.

Various agencies from around the area helped in the search.
