Crew working hard to complete amphitheater on time

Construction for the amphitheatre at the future Portneuf Wellness Complex is on time, but the deadline will still be difficult to make, according to the complex’s structural architect.

The amphitheatre stands 30 feet tall and 60 feet wide. When completed, it can accomodate 11,000 people. That includes VIP boxes, a seating area by the front of the stage, 2,100 other seats, and grass seating.

The area’s recent rain has posed a challenge for crews.

“Two weeks of really bad weather really hampered the project and its progress,” said architect Keeven Shropshire. “(The crew is) working very diligently to get everything accomplished, finished up and looking nice for those first performances.”

The amphitheatre has three concerts scheduled through United Concerts, with the first one on August 31. All three will be announced Friday.

The tickets for the shows will also go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday. You can buy them at smithstix.com or call 1-800-888-TIXX.
