Avian flu might impact county, state fairs

Ducks and geese may soon be missing from county fairs across the state.

That’s in order to prevent the bird flu from spreading.

Organizers for the Eastern Idaho State Fair don’t anticipate any major changes. They said this will mostly impact water fowl.

“We’ll just have to discuss if we’re going to allow ducks and geese to come in this year, and it’s nothing against ducks and geese,” said vet Tony Parsons. “We just don’t want, if they’re sick, to bring them to our chickens and other birds, and we’ll recommend that people not bring them this year just to prevent a problem. “

Fair organizers still don’t have an exact plan, but they expect to have one in the next couple of weeks.
