Summer safety: tips for your health and belongings

It’s the season for getting outside and enjoying the sun, but with the enjoyable weather, there are some not some enjoyable things to watch out for.

Idaho Falls Police say they see a spike in burglaries this time of year.

“there’s warm weather, more people are outside, there’s just more opportunity for burglars to take advantage of that” said Joelyn Hansen, Idaho Falls Police Public Information Officer

The biggest tips for people this time of year is to lock their doors and make sure their windows are rolled up all the way in their cars.

Jeff Stieglitz, and emergency room doctor at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center also cautions people for their health this summer.

“Three things come up during the summer that we don’t see during the year: sun, water, and vehicles” said Stieglitz

Stieglitz warned that leaving your kids in your car will not work out for anyone.

When it comes to being around water, make sure children are wearing life vests so they don’t drown.
