Wyoming trooper injured in 2-vehicle crash west of Cody

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says one of its troopers was injured in a crash on the highway between Cody and Yellowstone National Park.

The wreck happened around 2 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 14-16-20 west of Cody. A tractor trailer attempted to turn in front of oncoming traffic as the patrol car was approaching in the opposite direction on the two-lane highway.

Patrol officials say the truck driver failed to yield and the trooper didn’t have time to stop before colliding with the truck.

Other drivers stopped to help the trooper but firefighters needed special equipment to get the trooper out of the patrol car.

The truck driver wasn’t hurt.
