Swinging Bridge repairs to cost $350,000

Damages caused by a truck colliding with Swinging Bridge south of Jackson are expected to cost $350,000 to fix and the repairs will not make the bridge last longer.

The Jackson Hole News and Guide reports (http://bit.ly/1MJQ5oO ) that insurers are expected to cover most if not all of the cost, but the bridge’s lifespan is still estimated to be at most five years.

Commissioners told county staff Monday to advertise for contractors to perform the repairs.

Last year the Wyoming Department of Transportation found that the bridge requires $1 million of work to extend the bridge’s lifespan as many as 40 years.

The bridge has been closed since April. Until it reopens drivers must use the southern access to Henry’s Road, located north of the KOA campground on Highway 89.
