Treasure hunting couple rescued near Cody

A Virginia couple hunting for a lost treasure mine needed a backcountry rescue for the second time in the same area west of Cody.

The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1GXWX3L ) that Park County Search and Rescue found 40-year-old Frank Eugene Rose and 41-year-old Madilina Taylor, both of Lynchburg, Virginia, in the backcountry of the North Fork area Sunday.

Sheriff’s officials say Taylor had broken her ankle and Rose had hiked 2 miles to get help. Taylor was airlifted to St. Vincent Healthcare.

Search and Rescue previously rescued the pair in the summer of 2013 when they became disoriented and wandered for four days in the same area.

On Sunday deputies recommended the pair not return to the area without proper survival training. Rose said they wouldn’t be back.
